What is period self-care?
It’s a good idea to take care and take it easy while on your period. It’s completely normal to feel tired, sensitive or emotional while on your period so remember to take time to yourself to relax. If you get painful periods there are a few things that can help:
- Lie down
- Hot water bottle or heat pack
- Herbal teas (chamomile or ginger)
- Keeping warm
- Painkillers (Naprogesic for example)
- Try to avoid alcohol and coffee
Period self-care can be more difficult while at school. If you’re having painful periods, it’s probably worth a visit to the nurse’s office where painkillers and heat packs are likely to be available.
